Working In The Entertainment Industry

Filmmaking

Whether you want to be on stage or behind the scenes, the entertainment industry offers jobs for those with marketable skills. From music industry roadies and casting directors to digital animators and film editors, there are many different positions to choose from.

The role of filmmaker is one of the most important behind-the-scenes roles in the entertainment industry. In this position, you are responsible for directing the cast and crew and working with the cinematographer to capture the perfect shot.

Event Planning

Many people dream of working in the entertainment industry, and with good reason. Whether you’re an actor, a producer or an event planner, the work is often glamorous. But behind every scene, there is a lot of hard work that goes into making everything happen.

This can include meeting with clients before events to estimate attendance and determine purpose, securing venue locations, creating and distributing event materials like invitations and registration forms and handling the many logistical tasks involved in executing an event. It also includes establishing relationships with event vendors such as catering, music/djs and bands, lighting and A/V, dA(c)cor and florists to help bring client visions to life.

Public Relations

The global entertainment industry is worth over two trillion dollars. It has near-mythical status in the world, and many aspiring performers, directors and producers dream of Hollywood glamour and a global stage on which to share their creative work.

Public relations professionals are the link between a performer and their public. They manage relationships with their client, and a public manager will typically specialize in a particular field of entertainment such as music or film. Talent agents and booking agents are another common role within the industry.
